If what you’re after is a grass variety fitted for the warm climate and requires minimal maintenance, then the Centipede Sod is your best bet. It is considered as a practical alternative to either zoysia or Bermuda, and there are a few reasons why it makes sense. For one, Centipede is proven to be more shade tolerant compared to Bermuda, although Zoysia gets the edge here.

If your focus is aesthetics, then you would be disappointed to learn that both Zoysia and Bermuda look better than Centipede. It has a burnt red color when dormant, which is less attractive compared to other varieties.

One of the advantages of this grass variety is its versatility. It can easily adapt to different soil types and won’t need as much pesticides and fertilizers compared to Bermuda and Zoysia. A lawn that’s dressed up with centipede is ideal if you don’t want to put in a lot of effort in maintenance because it’ll survive with very little care. The Centipede sod offers moderate shade tolerance. If you want to make the most out of it, grow it in full sun. For it to survive, it only needs six hours of sun per day and about an inch of water a week.
